What We’re Working On
This month we are continuing to work on shapes, counting to 20 and we are beginning to work on adding quantity to numbers 1-5. We are also learning the days of the week and have a fun song to help us learn them. Ask your child if he/she can sing the days of the week song for you! Also we are finishing up our study of pumpkins. On Tuesday we made pumpkin pudding and tomorrow we will make pumpkin pie play-doh.
Announcements
Thanksgiving Feast
We will have our annual Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday, November 24th. There is a sign-up sheet in Shawn’s office.
Thanksgiving Break
We will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 26th and 27th for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Reminder:
Breakfast is served at 8:30 and is over at 8:45. We cannot serve breakfast after this time, as we are getting ready to begin group time and our daily lessons. Getting breakfast for late children is a disruption to the class and causes the child eating breakfast to miss out on valuable work time. If your child needs to eat breakfast here, please bring them at 8:30. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

August/September 2009 Newsletter
Dear Parents,
A new school year is here! We are going to have a fun and exciting year and have many fun activities planned.
For those of you who are just joining us, let me tell you a little about myself. I live here in Siloam with my husband Chris, our daughter Kristin, who is in first grade, and our two dogs. I graduated from Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, AR. earning a BA in English. I have taught preschool for 10 years, 6 of those years have been in the Montessori classroom with Ms. Shawn. This fall I will begin working towards earning my Montessori certification and then will begin working towards a degree in Early Childhood Education.
We are beginning the year learning the basic "rules" of the classroom...the way everything works and why. The themes we are working on first are Apples and All About Me. Everyone is doing great and is having fun. You will notice that in our "cubby corner" is the parent board. I will post classroom information, monthly units, what we are learning, etc. I will also post this info on our school website. Just click on the link "Ms. Laura's Room" on the preschool page. Our site is sunshinemontessori.blogspot.com.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to talk to me anytime. I am here 7-3:30 and my email is arftle@yahoo.com. I am excited about this school year and look forward to all the fun that we will have. Thank you for sharing your child with us here at Sunshine Montessori!
